In this exercise we will use the blogpost comments as a backchannel. Just click on the comments link at the bottom to reply to this discussion.

1.  Examine the Exhibit alongside critically. In the      class backchannel:
  • What is the exhibit about?
  • Describe how it makes you feel.
  • Do you think that #feesmustfall?
  • Reply to at least one other person in the discussion thread, opposing their opinion.
2. Scan the aura of the exhibit using your Aurasma app. How does virtual reality add to/distract from the Exhibit? Sometimes Auras do not load in which case you can access at the aura video here:

A Gallery walk consist of Exhibits that should challenge the observer to think about what is shared in the exhibit. A good exhibit therefore should:
  • Impart information and knowledge
  • Solicit feelings (positive/negative)
  • Stimulate good discussion
  • Encourage critical thinking
Was this exhibit a well chosen example?

  22. Please explain your comment @Doc. How are fees going to fall but not for free? If Govt can not support high schools etc how are they going to be able to support Varsities.Who is paying for it? We the hard working people who are paying for their own kids to go to university must now pay for your kid to go too????

  23. Jack is it possible to have free education especially when we are a developing country

    1. It's possible. It seemed impossible for basic education but know its the story of the past because basic education is free.

  24. This is affecting us badly in the long run. Our country cannot afford tertiary education being given for free!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. A portion of taxes should be properly redirected to tertiary education in order to subsidize part of the costs... Our fees are way too high in South Africa!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I disagree with Jack. Free education at higher institutes will kill the country. People should want to do something and finish it rather waste resources not finishing anything because it for free. No pain no gain

    1. We having housing allowance, car allowance, and we pay them for travelling but they are working and they applied for the job knowing that they will have to travel. If we can stop all the unnecessary spending we can afford the fees must fall and the education department must change the 30% pass rate for matriculants so that we won't have high drop out rate at Varsities.

    1. But this is a basic necessity and the government can afford to fund it. they must just stop with the 30% pass rates for matriculants, so that they can see who really wants to study and who will work hard for their education

  34. Yes. we have high spender in the government departments and then the students have to struggle to obtain a diploma, most of those who have diplomas have huge debts. #FeesMustFall

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree the government should help but not through violence

    ReplyDelete
  38. At this point what difference does it make. Recently there were demonstrations from Graduates who have degrees and were unable to get jobs. Varsity although great to have a degree or diploma is not a necessity in life. I have a degree and studied through correspondence and had to work at the same time. It makes no difference how or where you study. If you want it badly enough you will work for it!
